This comprehensive, field-based program introduces participants to a wide variety of possible career paths in natural resources, from Wildland Firefighting to Environmental Monitoring. Covering 17 valuable industry certifications in just 20 weeks, participants will gain skills, support and hands-on experience to launch a fulfilling career in BC’s natural resource industry. This program includes 17 weeks of classroom and field-based training followed by a three-week work placement with a local employer.
Program Details
This program is currently running at full capacity in Cranbrook, Nanaimo, Prince George, Kamloops and Langley. Please complete the form at the bottom of this page to be notified of future intakes in your region.
Participants from the Wildfire & Integrated Natural Resources Training will come out of the program with a variety of valuable skills and up to 17 industry certifications that are highly sought after by employers in the natural resource sector. Eligibility Requirements
Currently unemployed or underemployed (see definitions)

Must live in or surrounding Kamloops, Nanaimo, Prince George, Cranbrook, or Langley.

Must meet basic EI Eligibility requirements by answering yes to any of the following questions:

Are you currently on EI or have you been on EI in the past 5 years?

Have you earned more than $2000 of insurable earnings in 5 of the last 10 years (and paid EI premiums on those earnings?)

Are you a British Columbia Employment and Assistance client?

Complete a guided interview with a WorkBC Case Manager.

Complete an interview with Stillwater Consulting staff.

Successful interviewees will meet with WorkBC once more to go through final approvals before starting the program.
